Leased Lines
Leased Lines
The word "Leased Line" can be used to describe a number of different ways to connect two or more premises together. When leased line circuits were first introduced they were used to connect two or more remote offices together using either copper or fibre with a fixed monthly cost. These were known as Private Circuits or Point to Point Circuits.
With the advent of the Internet the product evolved and began to be used to connect premises to the Internet, with one end of the circuit being terminated into an Internet Service Provider.
Even with the introduction of Internet VPN's and MPLS there is still a requirement for customers to connect their local premises together using Private Circuits and for higher bandwidth Short Haul Data Services (SHDS).
Private Circuits
IT Unlimited can provide a direct connection between company sites. Those customers who rely heavily on communications can expect a resilient and high quality connection. You will receive a circuit achieving an average network performance target of 99.95%, with TotalCare maintenance support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In addition there is a 4 hour response to fault reports, and a reduced charges scheme guaranteeing a 5 hour restoration of service. The costs involved in a Private Circuit include the initial installation charge and an annual line rental.
Short Haul Data Services (SHDS)
SHDS also know as LES2/10/100 (LAN extension service) is very similar to a Private Circuit however is used for installations where high bandwidth dedicated connections are required. SHDS consists of high speed, point to point, Local Area Network (LAN) and Storage Area Network (SAN) extension services. It is an ideal option for organizations in the UK who operate from two or more sites, up to 25km apart. It also facilitates the provision of high speed links for disaster recovery standby sites.
SHDS Ethernet LAN Extension Services are dedicated optical fibre cables with BT Network Terminating Equipment (NTE) at either end of each link, into which you simply plug your equipment. SHDS for Ethernet LANs presents you with the opportunity to increase efficiency and control operational costs by linking your sites electronically. The link enables you to extend each of your offices' local area networks so that they appear as one, allowing you to share applications throughout your company. Your applications will operate in exactly the same way and at exactly the same speed regardless of where you are located; in fact, your users won't even be aware of the link.
BT's Short Haul Data Services provide practical solutions to pressing business issues. With availability targets of 99.9%, they are backed by BT's TotalCare maintenance support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with a 4 hour response to fault reports.
IT Unlimited can offer full managed installation with ongoing support or just consultancy to provide advice on the best solution to chose. IT Unlimited has many years of experience provisioning, installing and managing Private & SHDS circuits for customers in the airline, healthcare, education and manufacturing sectors.
Leased Line with Internet Access
Leased Lines provide the ultimate in 'always-on' connectivity to the global Internet. A Leased Line is a permanent connection between your office and the Internet, which provides completely unrestricted access. This type of connection is most suitable for companies who transfer large amounts of data across the Internet, or who are using the Internet to provide them with a Virtual Private Network (VPN) where remote users or office locations access services within the main office.
If your current connectivity solution is coming up for renewal or you've been given the task of setting up a new office, it's important to assess precisely the level of speed and reliability that you need.
IT Unlimited can undertake all provisioning and management of the service, offer a "Wires Only" service where the management is covered by the customer or provide management and support for an existing service via another provider.
